Southwest Virginia probably isn't the first place that comes to mind when you think of multicultural dance, but after regularly adding ๐ salsa events ๐ and seeing the many classes offered this month, I'm beginning to think the dance scene here might, in fact, be something to write home about. Styles mentioned recently include Mambo, Bachata, Cumbia, Timba, Merengue, Rueda, Kizomba, Salsa, Tango, Cha-Cha, Zouk, Waltz, Ballet, Foxtrot, Swing, Quickstep, Bolera, Lindy, Hustle, Charleston, Clogging, Flatfoot, Contemporary, Pole, Belly, Hip Hop, Jazz, Liturgical, Tap, and even Cotillion! (See "Ongoing Events" below for more on that.)
So if you're already struggling to get your steps in, might I suggest you do as I say and not as I doโand give an exotic-sounding dance a try instead? ๐บ A great place to start is the BLUU (Big Lick Latin Underground) Website Launch Dance Party this Friday, where beginners of all types will be welcomed and encouraged. Stay cozy! โ๏ธ
